Amazon's leftovers in Denver are now primed for other projects.

The Denver metro area was drawn through a 14- month site selection process and ended up one of 20 semi-finalist cities for Amazon's second headquarters. The project aimed to bring the chosen metro 50,000 jobs and $5 billion in economic impact.

In mid-November, Amazon announced that Long Island City in Queens, New York, and the newly dubbed "National Landing" area in the Washington, D.C. suburbs of Arlington County, Virginia, will split the second headquarters evenly between them. When Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) made its public request for HQ2 proposals, metro-Denver cities, counties and private developers were invited to submit their proposals to the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp., which was tapped to oversee Colorado's unified bid.

Denver’s government received 20 site recommendations for Amazon’s proposed HQ2, Eric Hiraga, the executive director of the Denver Office of Economic Development, told Denver Business Journal. The office narrowed that down to an unspecified number of sites to submit to the Metro Denver EDC.
